The Health Information Technology (HIT) Diploma offered by Anthem College – Atlanta gives students a solid foundation in medical billing and coding and electronic medical record (EMR) technology.
Atlanta’s HIT program offers more than a standard medical billing and coding school. Like many billing and coding programs, it covers the technical aspects of insurance, reimbursement, collections and HIPAA requirements. Additionally, the approach used by Anthem College includes a strong emphasis on hands-on practice with billing and coding and EMR software.
Our diploma students learn directly on practice management software recommended by local industry leaders who helped develop the curriculum.
Student support extends beyond the classroom. Our Education Department staff meet with each student to provide academic advising, help map out schedules, and arrange for tutoring if needed. A Student Services Department assists students who need outside services, such as childcare or housing referrals, in order to stay in school.
Once all coursework is finished, students must complete two externships before receiving the diploma. The externships underscore career and professional development as well workplace ethics that can only be achieved through real-world practice.
Atlanta is a major metropolitan region with thousands of healthcare facilities. Graduates of the HIT diploma program will have the skills and experience to effectively compete for entry-level positions throughout the healthcare field. Their skills are needed in private physician practices, clinics, hospitals, hospices, outpatient surgicenters, government agencies, and insurance firms.
