Pharmacy technicians provide clinical and administrative services in pharmacies. Their presence helps improve pharmacy efficiency, and frees pharmacists from routine work to focus on more complex clinical issues.
The Diploma in Pharmacy Technology offered at Anthem College – Aurora (Denver, CO) provides extensive hands-on training to prepare students to enter the pharmacy technician field.
At Anthem College, we care about our student’s personal and academic success. In addition to a career-focused education, we provide:
Students study the fundamentals of pharmacology and pharmacy practices. They learn basic calculations and formulas, medication categories and classifications standards. They study federal and state laws and regulations on controlled substances. Other courses explore into human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology and different pharmacy settings and practices.
After successfully completing required courses, students are placed in two externships with retail or hospital pharmacies to practice in a supervised professional environment.
Students who complete the pharmacy technology program can compete for several types of entry-level technician positions in hospital, long-term care, and retail pharmacy settings.
