Massage therapy students are trained to provide massage to relieve pain caused by injury or illness.
Anthem College—Beaverton (Portland, OR) offers a Diploma in Massage Therapy for students interested in competing for entry-level massage therapy positions in clinical, sport and spa facilities.
At Anthem College, we care about our students’ personal and academic success. In addition to a career-focused education, we provide:
Our comprehensive curriculum covers the different modalities used throughout the profession, such as Swedish, sport, spa, and geriatric massage applications, as well as trigger point therapy. Other classes cover anatomy, physiology and pathology as they relate to bodily injury.
A business class discusses ethics for massage therapists, as well as standard business practices concerning hygiene, first aid and CPR. It also introduces content on starting and promoting a massage therapy business.
After successfully completing all coursework, students participate in a supervised clinic.
The program also prepares the graduate for the national exams through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) and Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx). The state of Oregon requires passing the Massage and Bodywork licensing examination (MBLEx) and the Oregon State Board of Massage practical exam. Certification and Licensing requirements vary by state; therefore if the student is interested in relocating to another state, he is responsible for verification that his education meets the state’s requirements.
