The Associate Degree in Health Services Administration (HSA) at Florida Career College was created to provide the student with a broad overview of the administrative aspects of healthcare. This degree-program provides students with general education courses as well as program specific course work in areas including: medical terminology, information technology and medical records, billing and insurance forms. The curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and understanding of the health industry laws, regulation, policies, procedures and regulatory bodies that govern the healthcare professions, such as HIPAA, OSHA, and JCAHO. Courses also provide the students with the opportunity to demonstrate effective communication, customer relations and organizational and administrative skills. FCC students who have graduated from the FCC Medical Assistant Technician, Patient Care Technician or Medical Coding & Billing program can advance into the HSA program and receive full credit for courses passed in their prior program with a minimum grade of “C”, for 31-42 credits. Credits from other institutions shall be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
