Medical billing and coding is a dynamic field that is at the forefront of medical office technologies. The St. Louis area is home to scores of medical facilities and offices that use medical billing and coding services, including more than a dozen hospitals and over 6,000 physicians.

Medical billing programs offer students training in medical coding and medical billing. At Anthem College – Fenton (St. Louis MO), students working toward a Diploma in Medical Billing and Coding take courses that address a wide range of billing, coding and documentation issues. They learn about different health information technologies and medical office procedures such as medical records formatting, information release and account management.

Medical Coding and Billing Career Options

Students enrolled in our diploma program are required to complete an externship after they successfully finish all coursework. The externship gives them real-world experience in a medical office or hospital.

After completing the full program, students can compete for positions in a range of medical settings, including physician offices, clinics, hospitals, nursing facilities and home health agencies. They can also apply for positions with insurance firms and other businesses involved with billing and coding.
