Pharmacy Technicians play an important role in pharmacy services today. They provide both clinical and administrative support in pharmacies, enabling today’s pharmacies to work more efficiently than ever before.
Anthem College—Fenton (St. Louis, MO) offers a Pharmacy Technician Diploma that provides extensive hands-on training for students preparing to enter the pharmacy technician field. Students take courses in pharmacology, chemotherapy, intravenous treatments and antibiotics. They learn how to calculate reconstituted dosages, study compounding, and learn about herbal preparations and how to prepare dietary supplements.
Students also learn about legal issues that impact pharmacy operations, and study the work environments of hospital and retail pharmacies. They are taught about inventory control and proper stocking and ordering procedures.
At Anthem College, we want to give our students the support they need to succeed. Our classes are available during the day and in the evenings in order to accommodate our students’ busy schedules. We also provide:
After successfully completing required courses, students are placed in externships with retail or hospital pharmacies to practice in a supervised professional environment. The externship also helps prepare students to compete for several types of entry-level technician positions in hospital, long-term care and retail pharmacy settings.
