Medical assistant programs prepare students to handle a variety of clinical and administrative procedures in physician offices.
The Medical Assistant Diploma offered by Anthem College—Brookfield (Milwaukee, WI) prepares students for entry-level positions as medical assistants, medical secretaries, and laboratory technicians.
Our students are also encouraged to return to Anthem College any time after they graduate and take refresher courses to help them stay on top of the latest developments in their field at no charge.
The career outlook for medical assistants is very good. Milwaukee is home to about 4,300 physicians and medical facilities that employ medical assistants. Yahoo! Education lists the Medical Assistant field as a top healthcare career.
At Anthem College, students receive hands-on training in laboratory and diagnostic procedures. They learn how to give injections, perform urinalysis and venipuncture, and operate electrocardiology (ECG) machinery and read graphs. They study medical terminology, the respiratory and circulatory systems, and how to measure body temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiratory rates. They also learn medical office emergency procedures.
Students also receive training in administrative procedures such as appointment scheduling, correspondence and patient communications. They are introduced to the concepts of medical insurance and billing processes and medical recordkeeping.
After they successfully complete all coursework, students enter an externship in a healthcare setting where they can apply their skills in supervised, real-world settings.
At Anthem College, we want to support our students every step of the way. Our classes are available during the day and in the evening to accommodate our students’ busy schedules. We also provide:
