Medical assistant programs prepare students to handle a variety of clinical and administrative procedures needed in physician offices. More than 4,500 physicians practice in the Minneapolis—St. Paul metropolitan area, which is also home to the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

Anthem College—St. Louis Park (Minneapolis, MN) offers a Medical Assistant Diploma that prepares students for entry-level positions as medical assistants, medical secretaries, and laboratory technicians. Yahoo! Education lists medical assistants as one of its top healthcare careers.
At Anthem College, we care about our student’s personal and academic success. In addition to a career-focused education, we provide:
The diploma program gives students hands-on training in clinical and laboratory procedures such as urinalysis and hematology. They learn about sterilization and injection techniques. They study medical terminologies, the respiratory and circulatory systems, and how to measure blood pressure, body temperatures, pulse and respiratory rates. They learn how to operate electrocardiology (ECG) machinery and read its graphs, and provide medical office emergency procedures.
In addition, students learn key administrative procedures including handling correspondence, scheduling appointments and communicating with patients. They are introduced to the concepts of medical insurance and billing processes and medical recordkeeping.
After they successfully complete all coursework, students enter an externship in a healthcare setting. Program graduates are eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant exam from the American Association of Medical Assistants.
