The Pharmacy Technician program offered by Anthem Education schools and colleges provides extensive hands-on training for students preparing to enter the pharmacy technician field.
Courses focus on pharmacy technician operations—including working in different pharmacy settings, state and federal law, and ethical issues—as well as general education courses. Depending on the campus, the program may be called Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Technology, or Pharmacy Assistant.
Students who complete the Pharmacy Technician program can compete for several types of entry-level technician positions in hospital, long-term care, and retail pharmacy settings. The program attracts adult students of all ages, including many who are looking to establish themselves in a new career. Read about one of our students whose Anthem experience took her out of her empty nest and into a new career and job with a compounding pharmacy. “I went from having no direction to having guidance, direction and enthusiasm. With my kids growing up and being independent, this is something for me,” this student told us.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts a very positive employment outlook for pharmacy technicians. It expects to see a 20% increase in jobs between 2010 and 2020 due to advances in research will bring more prescription drugs to the market. Patients for these drugs include people fighting specific diseases as well as older people who generally need more prescription drugs to maintain their health.
The Pharmacy Technician field also holds the #4 listing on Yahoo! Education’s list of Top Healthcare Careers.
