Dental Assisting

Diploma Program

Dental assistant programs prepare students to work closely with dentists and ensure that dental practices are operating with a high degree of efficiency.

Dental Assistant Career-Focused Courses

Students can earn a Diploma in Dental Assistant at Anthem College—Sacramento. The program focuses on hands-on learning that emphasizes chairside skills, radiography and laboratory procedures. Other courses address prosthodontics, polish and sealants, dental specialties and dental health.

Students who do not hold a high school diploma or GED are welcome and encouraged to apply to the program.

A career success course rounds out the program with information students need to help with job searching, career advancement and developing different life skills such as financial and time management.

After satisfactorily completing coursework, students are placed in an externship where they are given the opportunity to practice and further develop their skills in real-world settings.

At Anthem College, we are dedicated to our students’ success. In addition to a career-focused education, we support our students’ academic and personal goals by providing:

  • Real-world labs for hands-on training and practice
  • A Student Services Department that helps students get services they need to stay in school
  • Education Department staff who provide academic advising, and arrange study groups and tutoring

Program graduates can compete for entry-level dental assistant positions. According to a report from Georgetown University, graduates from allied health programs such as dental assistant are more likely to become employed after graduation. Our graduates are also eligible to sit for the California Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) Examination administered by the Dental Board of California.

Per California Assembly Bill (AB) 2086, the following information is made available to provide access to California license examination passage rates for graduates of Anthem College programs requiring California licensure. See http://www.dbc.ca.gov/da_program/examstats.shtml. Data will be updated as California licensing and/or regulatory agencies make the information electronically available.
