In today’s pharmacy, it is pharmacy technicians who are the most visible to the public. They provide important administrative and clinical support to registered pharmacists, which frees up the pharmacists’ time to focus on in-depth clinical issues. Pharmacy technicians enable modern pharmacies to work more efficiently than ever before.
Anthem College—Sacramento offers a Diploma in Pharmacy Technician that provides extensive hands-on training for students preparing to enter the field. Students take courses in pharmacology, chemotherapy, intravenous treatments and antibiotics. They study compounding, learn how to calculate reconstituted dosages, and are trained to prepare dietary supplements.
Students also learn about legal issues that impact pharmacy operations, and study the work environments of hospital and retail pharmacies. They are taught about inventory control and proper stocking and ordering procedures.
The program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
After successfully completing required courses, students are placed in externships with retail, hospital, specialty, or home infusion pharmacies to practice in a supervised, real-world environment. After completing the program, students can compete for several types of entry-level technician positions in these settings.
At Anthem College, we want to support our students every step of the way. Classes are available during the day and in the evenings in order to fit in with our students’ busy schedules. We also provide:
Per California Assembly Bill (AB) 2086, the following information is made available to provide access to California license examination passage rates for graduates of Anthem College programs requiring California licensure:

Data will be updated as California licensing and/or regulatory agencies make the information electronically available.
